Rundown of Influences in Music, Favorite Artists and Unique Songs

During my elementary, my playlist was limited to old songs played by my grandfather or the hits played by local radio stations. I even joined radio contests hahaha and won a mug and a box of noodles from 96.3 Sigaw. There were funny mistakes too in identifying Power 93 not sure if it was Killer bee or V but I know they're popular in the 90s. I was thankful that my grandfather had a huge collection of songs played on turntable, cassette and cd player. Sunday morning started with orchestra hits or songs played by a marching band during fiesta so imagine the festive mood in our house. Then, it will be followed by dances. Boogie, cha cha, swing , name it, my lolo could recommend an artist. Instrumentals were also a favorite. Love Henry Mancini's piano hits, Kenny G's songs which were usually used in beauty pageants and more. I could only recognize some  when I hear it. There would be songs too from the Carpenters,  Frank Sinatra, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Conni

College Rock

I felt that my college playlists were more interesting since I am more exposed to various genres but I am consistent with my choices on pop and rock. I finally understood while writing this blog that I was just another normal teenager who loves big heavy sounds. For pop, allow me to share another post. I did a separate playlist on my most loved bands but it doesn't mean that I love the following bands less. I just want them all together in one post to weave the connections, the feelings I associate them with the scenes I made on my head, the time I dreamt I was a film maker. These are the songs that inspire me to write screenplays and term papers. I also included in this list some songs with acoustic versions that I love a lot. Perhaps these choices also were the reason why I love action movies. I remember well the scenes because of the music that was used. 1. Matchbox Twenty Push Bent Unwell Smooth (Rob Thomas with Santana) 2. Creed With Arms Wide open My Sacrific

Incubus

The years I spent in melancholy, a huge part of it was nourished by Incubus. I wouldn't have penned a lot of blogs during those years I was in search of  what I truly want in life perhaps if Incubus was not in my playlist. Brandon Boyd was such a cool mess I hang out with whenever I feel the urge to write, out of boredom, out of sadness, out of emptiness. I don't blame Incubus for giving me a ride to nowhere. I'm thankful that their songs helped me survive pain and those numerous times I gave up on compassion. Here are the songs that are on repeat whenever I do my laundry; the household chore that lets me reflect on what I did to my life. 1. I Miss you 2. Stellar 3. Nice to know you 4. Are you in? 5. Wish You were here 6. Drive 7. Dig 8. Summer Romance 9. Warning 10. Like A Virgin Cover

Dashboard Confessional

If there's one band that makes my heart skip a beat and then lets me enjoy that moment but at the end of the song I'll feel sad, that would be Dashboard Confessional. Their songs give you that kind of high like as if I  were in love then I realize I was all alone. **** I always hear their song  Stolen unexpectedly in crowded places and it never fails to pacify my heart and mind. Whenever I am doing something and this song is played, I can't help but pause for while to listen and feel the lyrics. I dare not to sing it if played so that I can listen more unless I chose to sing it in videoke :D Whenever I  sing Hands down, I love the breathtaking length of lyrics that I feel the sudden rush too of emotions. Oh Chris Carraba was so good even in acoustic! Here's the playlist. 1. Stolen 2. Hands Down 3.  Vindicated 4. Screaming Infidelities

All American Rejects

This band always hits me hardest when it comes to flashing memories that I thought I have already forgotten. Their songs make me melancholic at the same time happy. Their songs represent all the outbursts that I wanna scream on top of my lungs, if I were on top of the mountain :D I would never forget to sing these songs in videoke. :D I love also using their songs as background music for segments I produced before. 1. It Ends Tonight 2. Swing  Swing 3. The Last Song 4. Time Stands Still 5.  Gives You Hell 6. Dirty Little Secret

Maroon 5

I got two words to describe Maroon 5. Hot and Irresistible. Whenever I listen to this unpredictable band, it felt like I was in a different place. Their songs have that vibe that keeps me energetic and pushes me to complete whatever it is that I am doing. Their songs are perfect for tasks I need to accomplish overnight. Adam's take on various kinds of sounds is so admirable that I can't help but sing the songs out of the blue.  Totally LSS..I survived long nights of computing grades with their songs on repeat. Here are the songs that I can't help but pause at times at  work so that I can sing or check the lyrics and sing it right. Love to sing also their songs in videoke  too :D Plus the videos of their songs are amazing, wanna be part it :D 1.  This Love 2. Makes me Wonder 3. She will be Loved 4. Love Somebody 5. Harder to Breathe 6. Sunday Morning 7. One More Night 8. Moves Like Jagger 9.Payphone 10. Goodnight Goodnight 11. Payphone

Fall out Boy

Next to Paramore is Fall out Boy. I can't help but fall in love with this band especially when they sing their songs in acoustic. I find this band, one of the coolest ever. It's hard to resist their beat even if I can't relate to their lyrics. I really wish that they would bring the Monumentour concert here in the Philippines but FOB and Paramore  held their concerts separately. :( Anyway, I'll try to catch them again. Here are the FOB songs that I play on repeat most of the time especially whenever I am washing the dishes or doing my laundry. 1. Sugar We're Going Down 2. The Take Over, the Breaks Over 3. Dance Dance 4.I'm like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always trying to Get You Off ( Me and You) 5.Thnks for the Mmrs 6.  My Songs know what you did in the dark ( Light'em Up) 7. This Aint a scene, it's an arms race 8. Uma Thurman 9. Immortals

Paramore

I was trying to make ..take note, lists  of playlists. I love a lot of songs from different genres and periods so I decided  to put them in categories based on how I feel about the songs. I would like to start with the hippest band that never fails to cheer me up especially when I feel so down in the dumps. Hayley is one of best lead vocalists that I love especially when they perform their songs on acoustic. Happy too that she got married to New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert. I just wanna share the list of songs by Paramore that sends me down memory lane and leaves me happy and inspired. 1. Misery Business 2. Still Into You 3. Crush Crush Crush 4. That's What  You Get 5. Adore 6. Another Day 7. The Only Exception 8. Decode 9. I hate to See Your Heart Break 10. Aint it Fun

WW II

If I will be given a chance to have another wildest dream be granted, my wish will be -to be with the person I loved the most during my European travel and spend the rest of my life with him. I wish to meet that special someone as co-passenger in the plane, seated beside me. He could be Leonardo DiCaprio, Sung hoon, Zo In-sung or Gong Yoo :D We would chat softly about anything under the sun. We'll be both surprised that we had booked on the same hotel hence decided to visit the tourist attractions together. From Paris to Luneberg, we'll visit the European landmarks just like the movie Chasing Liberty, we'll have fun trying out various kinds of dishes especially gelato. We'll continue to exchange stories over coffee dates in the afternoon and dinner until we fall asleep under the stars/ stargazing at night in hotel balcony. Ohh, slow dancing under the moonlight. We would enjoy swimming, be it in a warm infinity pool or white sand beach. We'll take pictures

Wildest Wish

Taylor Swift recently brought home a Grammy for Album of the Year and I totally agree that 1989 was the best last year. I sang and enjoyed all of her songs in that album. I can't even choose which one is my favorite because each song is so likable. I was listening to Wildest Dreams when I thought, yeah what is my wildest dream? So here it is. I would like Keanu Reeves  to be my best friend. I would like to cook for him and dine with him. I'd like to listen to him as he discusses his plans for the next day while we lay comfortably on the couch. Weekends will be fun with him as we go surfing or fishing. I would like him to drive for me as I go to the grocery. We'll have fun picking up the goods in our list, push the carts to the cashier and pay for it without any interruption from on-lookers who are smiling at us, wishing us a beautiful day. Shopping is fun too. We'll buy simple comfortable clothes. We'll maintain an organized and clean town house. There

Sports Faves

I was trying to recall my favorite players in different fields and I realized that the 1992 Olympic games left a lasting impression. Most of the most liked sports icons in my list gained popularity in the 90s. Let me start with gymnastics favorites Shannon Miller and Dominique Dawes.     Locally, during that time Bea Lucero was the face of MILO.  I grew up also watching the success stories of track and field athletes Lydia de Vega and Elma Muros;   and Olympic silver medalist for boxing, Onyok Velasco. Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski is the only equestriane I know until I dug up info about Kate Upton whom I have watched in the comedy film, The other Woman. My grandfather influenced me to watch boxing and billiards hence I grew up fond of pool masters Efren Bata Reyes and Django Bustamante.  Boxing matches on Sundays are one of a kind if it features Luisito Espinosa and Manny Pacquiao.
