Koreanovelas (Part 1)

Ang aking pinakamahabang listahan so far for drama.

What I love about kdramas is ine-EFFORT nila ang bawat detalye ng production. They don't rely on the actors alone. They give due recognition to production people.Importante ang music, lights, sound effects, costume, make up, continuity and all the publicity efforts. They are not afraid to show how they work behind the scenes kaya mas mararamdaman mo 'yung sincerity nung mga eksena because you get a glimpse on the vision of the creators and compare it with their execution lalo na pag nahook ka and you also study the profile of the actors and then you examine their characterization. You don't just love the character, you love the hard work they put in what they did on the screen.No wonder you look forward to their next project. You follow the growth of the artists.


They also listen to their audience though sometimes that is the reason divided ang satisfaction when it comes to ending. I guess, that's the reason why they fail in giving a superb ending. Andun 'yung voice na this is what we want to see on the screen and if you won't comply we will not watch it plus they really follow rules on what can be shown on evening dramas different from what can be shown on weekend dramas.Hand in hand din sila in promoting their shows in variety shows, magazine photoshoots, album launch hence buhay na buhay ang fandom at arts industry nila though everything was commercialized, naka-anchor sila sa iisang goal-spread Hallyu wave globally. It sounds weird but their own netizens act as police if they spread incorrect understanding of their culture which 'foreigners' find ridiculously contradicting in modern times.

It is also the reason why they have credible award giving bodies. They upheld consistently strong standards and remained incorruptible.Super ramdam ng artist ang backlash ng inappropriate behavior nila kaya ganun ka control freak sila when it comes to scandal. Agencies are quick to deny or confirm news.

Aminado din naman na some Koreans don't watch kdramas the way it was projected online na a specific drama is super engaging kaya may mga rumor and fake news sila.OA dn sila maghype.

What makes kdrama super amazing is how kdrama fans make these dramas available, accessible and understandable despite restrictions. Imagine, kdrama lovers uploading raw and subbed version in various languages real time.

Anyway, this doesn't mean I love the Philippine soaps less or I find it pitiful. I am wishing one day we would be more united in one goal that our culture can also be shared where our artists are given due recognition. Currently, ang staying power ng Pinoy soaps rely on youtube, pre-produced apps or sponsored events and memes online. Fandoms survive on their own, tipong 'til they last din. Audience reactions were measured via Twitter trending eh enough ba 'yun to measure the changing demographics? I am not sure if there is an update already on rules on how programming should be planned plus the sanctions nowadays kasi we don't consistently hear MTRCB call out these violations. You often hear  from them when 'interesting' artists err eh tipong it's kapag puno na ang salop case and ironically, some do get punishment ; some don't and worst, repetitive cases pa.


So enough of my dramatic intro, serye din ang aking listahan of must watch kdramas.

1.     Full House 

     (Ang writer at famous star love story. ‘Di ko malilimutan ang pagkahilig ni Jessie sa spaghetti, ang pagkanta niya ng Bear song, ang pagtatago niya ng kontrata sa ref, ang hair style niya na pang-shaman,ang patung-patong niya na makulay na damit at pagpapauso ng bolero na bitin,  ang rice cooker, ang kainan ng kimchi, ang pagkakauntog ng grandmother-in -law niya habang buhat niya ito from gardening, ang date nila ni Justin sa theme park at ang super ganda na glass house)

2.     Lovers in Prague
       (ang funniest kdrama ever between a policeman and a diplomat. Hindi pa uso ang   pick up lines pero ang drama na ito ay over sa pick up lines na ta-tumbling ka sa  tawa dahil sa galing ng delivery ng lead stars lalo na ng female lead na Si Jeon Do-Yeon. Kahit hindi ko gusto ang mga damit ni Jeon Do-Yeon panalo ang acting niya here)

3.     Jewel in the Palace  

   (Hindi pa uso ang Master Chef pero sa dramang ito buhay na buhay ang kitchen  stories. Ang drama na puno ng madam at first time mawindang sa naglalakihang   headdress, mga ingredients na hindi mo maintindihan tulad ng parsimon at bibe na   may asupre atbp, favorite scene ko ang labanan sa pagsasaing ng kanin at ang mala- acupuncture lesson sa paggamit ng bubuyog sa dila para maibalik ang panlasa ni Jang  Geum)

4.     Prosecutor Princess
    (Bumilib ako sa talas ng memory ni fashionista lawyer Ma Hye Ri na ginanapan ni  favorite girl Kim So-Yeon. Nagpromise ako na hindi na ako magsusuot ng high heels at never ako naging fan ng mini skirt pero dahil sa drama na ito, gandang-  ganda ako sa mga girls na naka-tuck ang blouse sa mini skirt then naka-high heels.)

5.     Myung Wol the Spy

   (Another favorite girl Han Ye-Seul as a north Korean spy Myung Wol na may  mission na madala ang hallyu star na si Eric Mun sa North Korea. Mababaw ang plot   pero nakakatawa ang mga attempts ni Myung Wol na mapaibig ang star na sobrang   bilib sa sarili.Love ko ang kanyang short hair, shorts and boots get up. Memorable scene ang pagpupumilit na makakuha ni Myung Wol ng autograph pero kiss ang binigay ni famous star Ito rin ang drama na gustung-gusto ko magkatuluyan ang mge second leads nila)

6.     Hwang Jini

        (Favorite girl Ha Ji Won starred in this drama as the famous gisaeng na naninidigan       sa art of dancing not bound by anumang choreography.Second drama na nakita ko si  Jang Geun Suk here as Hwang Jini’s first love na naging dahilan para maging    maramot siya sa kanyang talent. Love ko ang dramang ito dahil sa shades ng lipstick     ng mga gisaeng at ang magagarang headdress. Memorable ang mga sayaw sa    lubid, espada, tagak at tambol.)

7.     Love from Another Star

    (Sino ang hindi mababaliw sa katatawa at kilig dahil kay Sassy Girl Gianna Jun o  Steffi Cheon. Wardrobe pa lang niya panalo na. walang tatalo sa galing ng kanyang timing at delivery)

8.     A Gentleman’s Dignity

       (Amazing ang intro ng bawat episode. Ang drama na punum-puno ng EFFORT. Super dami ng hugot quotes sa drama na ito at naawa ako sa hero dahil second lead siya sa heroine.

      Ito yung drama na ipapafeel sa 'yo why you get what you deserve at mapapa-agree ka na bakit mo siya deserve.Memorable ang pink stilettos, red dress at shoes for Jang Dong-gun sa show na ito.Panalo din ang cheer dance ni Hong Sera sa baseball game. Love ko ang desperate  moves ni Kim Ha-neul here.So dami ng hugot lines in this drama. Plus first time magdrama ni CNBlue guitarist Jonghyun, bonus na andito rin si Kim Woo Bin. may cameo si Yonghwa.

9.     Dalja’s Spring

      ( Love ko ang mga damit ni Dalja Oh, kaloka ang kulot niyang buhok. Kulit ni Lee Min Ki here. Ang drama na naging dahilan kung bakit mahilig ako sa sopas.)

10.                        Birth of A Beauty

     (Another comedy from favorite fashionista Han Ye-Seul as Sa Geum Ran. Fave             scene ko ang pagkain niya ng sushi at maki.Tearjerky naman ang scene na nagpagulong-gulong siya sa bus.As always her outfits are beautiful. Unique in this       drama na mas nakakatawa ang male lead na kumanta pa ng Pocoyo song)

11.                        City Hunter

      (Lee Min Ho is love. Siya pa lang ang nasa screen, wa  na ako ma-say. Heartbreaking ang pagkamatay ni Lee Joon Hyuk in this drama, cute ang pagreregalo nila      both ng wallet kay  Park Min-Young at syempre memorable ang unique things sa   apartment ni Nana. First time ko mainis sa suot na cap ni Lee Min Ho tuwing may  fight scene siya)

12.                        Kim Sam Soon

      (Love the piano scene. Usually I focus on the female lead sa mga drama pero here,       Hyun Bin as Cyrus is definitely irresistible. Kaloka ang conflict na old maid versus       may taning na ang buhay so help me make my last days happy girl na super lovely         din naman. Nagpauso ng pastry chef.)

13.                        Playful Kiss

      (Second drama na sinundan ko dahil sa male lead at napanood ko ang Taiwanese  version na It Started with A Kiss.This is Kim Hyun Joong’s best drama so far. Kahit anong hairstyle ni KHJ, gwapo pa rin.Love ko ang dresses at shoes ni Oh Ha   Ni)

14.                        My Princess
     (Ang drama na nagpasimula ng big headbands na mala-British royal ang dating. Love Kim Tae-Hee and Song Seung Heon here a lot)

Hindi ko sila masyadong favorite :D 

Kaloka ang kontrabida na ito at gusto pang ipagaya ang hair style niya...

15.                        Secret Garden
    (Ha Ji Won and Hyun Bin in a drama, jackpot!Literal na gumulong ako sa floor sa         nakakatawang lines here. Namimilipit ako sa kilig watching this drama. Memorable     ang sumpa ng ulan, blue jacket ni Hyun Bin at sira-sirang bag ni Ha Ji Won. )
