Pinoy TV Shows

What I would like to include in this list are variety shows, gag shows, game shows, reality and talent search shows, documentaries, talk shows, and sitcoms. 1. Gag/ comedy shows If there's one thing that TV must offer, it is laughter. When you turn on the tv, you expect to be entertained, to be informed and the least would be - to be reminded of your worries, of unsolved problems, of heartaches you can't escape. In short, you least expect to feel bad about yourself, your situation. Most of us watch tv for entertainment. We crave to be inspired, to be recharged. Gag shows, parodies, and sketch comedies can wipe out those uncertainties. These kinds of shows provide the opportunity to take a break and let the idea flow just when we are ready to bounce back to reality. a. Bubble Gang At first, I dislike this show since Michael V and Ogie Alcasid were pirated from Tropang Trumpo. Today, I miss the tandem of Michael V and Ogie. They were able to create characters that

Pinoy Comedy Flicks

I love having a good laugh and the following movies may or may not be that too artistic or crafty in content but they will always elicit laughter no matter how many times I've watched them. I cringe on slapstick sequences but there are some that I can tolerate. Here is the list of the flicks that I almost died laughing. 1. The Lucky Ones I will always love how Wenn Deramas turned his obsession over Vilma Santos into a funny story of idol shipping versus mother-daughter relationship with destined lovers as the side conflict. Pokwang,Eugene Domingo and Sandara Park gave this movie that unusual but super adorable chemistry. 2.Tanging Ina series This Wenn Deramas movie turned AiAi delas Alas into a well-respected actress from an ordinary comedian. Same goes to Eugene Domingo whose chemistry with AiAi as her super supportive bff was incomparably charming.I enjoyed watching Marvin Agustin, Nikki Valdez, Heart Evangelista, Shaina Magdayao, Alwyn Uytingco, Serena Dalrymple and C

JLo is one hot mama from head to toe. 3. Britney Spears'  I'm a Slave for You One of the sexiest dances ever and  the sexiest Britney.. 4. Jennifer Lopez's I'm real I don't like see-through nets but JLo looked gorgeous in it. I am envious of her hair and nude make-up forever. 5. Jennifer Lopez's Get Right I love the different looks of JLo here. She's so beautiful. She can pull off any hairstyle, make-up and wardrobe. 6. Bruno Mars' Just the Way Are The model's dimples made her totally irresistible. 7. Shakira and Beyonce in Beautiful Liar Double treat hotness. 8.Britney Spears' From the Bottom of my Broken Heart I miss the i

Regine

Image
In anticipation of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid's upcoming celebration of her 30 years in show business, I would like to list down the clips that were on repeat just to enjoy those high notes. Whenever I get to hear singers who belt out songs, I always go back to Regine's live shows to compare. What I love the most about Regine is that she can turn any song remarkable. Her covers are often better than the original. Her R2k album is my favorite. Here is the list of my favorite songs sang by Regine.Oh I truly miss SOP's Concert Back to Back to Back. 1. Written in the Sand I waited for this performance that is why this one is so memorable.I am so hyped because of the Y2k scare but this New Year countdown  was the best on Philippine Television. 2. Maghihintay Ako Love this OST from Atlantika a lot.The way she sang this song  made me feel that I live in the ocean hahaha. My feeling sirena song.... Her highest notes here felt like she's whistling. It felt like thi

Pinoy A-list Actresses

I would like to list down this time the actresses that I followed whose acting talent was often under appreciated. Pinoy A-list actresses like Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Maricel Soriano, Sharon Cuneta, Snooky Serna, Hilda Koronel, Charo Santos, Lorna Tolentino and Dina Bonevie were recognized throughout the years and I am happy that the industry continues to accord them with respect and applause that they deserve.Recent addition to this A-list was Eugene Domingo. I have nothing against box office stars or prime time soap queens like Bea Alonzo, Jodi Sta. Maria, Sarah Geronimo, Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Kim Chiu, Heart Evangelista, Liza Soberano and Maja Salvador. They can hit the soft spots and deliver unexpected portrayal of difficult roles but their personal lives often gets noisier than their last appearance.  Judy Ann Santos and Iza Calzado have that balance which Claudine Barretto, Angelica Panganiban, Erich Gonzales,  and Andi Eigenmann so far have

Dystopia

Thomas More's Utopia left a lasting impression on me that is why finding films with dystopian themes made it appealing. I am torn on what is more realistic, building an ideal place for everyone or rebuilding out of destruction.I find themes like rising above the ashes- using human strength and courage to survive, astonishing. Here is the list of my favorite dystopian films that are exciting to review for literary criticism. 1.The Matrix    The Matrix Reloaded    The Matrix Revolutions 2. it's Thai...

Image
I've often thought of making a list of Thai romcoms that I enjoyed but I never had the time actually to collect information about these movies until recently, I was triggered by the reviews comparing Kita Kita, a sleeper hit in the Philippines, to Korean drama tropes. A voice inside me would like to argue that the narrative feels like more of a Thai romcom. Thai romcoms heavily explores the theme "soulmates".Though in reality, soulmates do not necessarily mean as destined lovers.  What I like about Thai movies is that you obliviously immerse your world into the world of the characters in the film. You don't put your shoes into the film's characters- be a protagonist, antagonist or sidekick, but you feel a connection that would make you laugh, cry and scared from one moment to another.  Thai movies' main come on was their comedy antics.I cringe on slapstick comedy but Thais have a way of making you endure those scenes and accept that those scenes we
