Luc Besson and his movies

Image
Whenever I watch a film and felt the need to further review the details, I always look for the production people behind the flick. I noticed that most of the action movies that I liked  which usually have amusing fight choreography and chase scenes were either directed, penned or produced by Luc Besson. I knew that Besson is behind it whenever 1.  there are amazing parkour sequences; 2. unusual matching/plotting of music and sound effects to the action sequence; 3. those scenes that are supposedly bloody, creepy and tragic where executed visually pleasing but it doesn't lose the magic or the feeling that it is supposed to create or to help the story to move forward; 4. the costumes are amazingly practical and believable but with certain unimaginable twists and 5. the dialogues are short, witty and memorable which I think made the actors especially the lead ones appear confident, reliable and oozing with sex appeal. Here is the list of his movies that I don't mind...

The Sun in my 2016 Orbit

If there is something that I really wanted to get over with this year, it'll be the dream to visit Japan. This trip is more special. I will not enjoy the trip alone but with a bestie. I see myself wearing colorful floral top, jeans, sneakers and a handy comfortable jacket or shawl and an umbrella. I would like to see for myself Japan's famous train, search for cherry blossom be in full bloom or not, be amused with Japanese signboards, take a selfie with cosplay artists on streets and enjoy other distinct Japanese attractions. I would like to savor authentic taste of ramen, soba, udon, karaage, yakiton and maki; I'll also try hot chocolate, ice cream and kashipan. Let me chill in their cold weather, speak even little Japanese, interact with citizens, get a glimpse of their daily routine, watch a tea ceremony, attend a calligraphy class, experience theater and learn about ninjas, samurai and hear their urban legends as I visit old castles, museums, gardens and ...

On being a writer

It's been a long time since I parked my pen. After years of trying to become a writer in different fields, I realized that I am a writer after all. The "to publish or perish" quote and "to be an accomplished writer" are two different goals. The funny thing is, I fell short on describing the kind of writer I would like to become. For years, growing up fascinated with JK Rowling's popularity and havin' that "I can also do it like Bob Ong" attitude, I believed that my ultimate dream "to become a writer" is also the same as "to be a famous writer". That one adjective made a huge difference in pushing my limits. How far will I go for my dream; for how long will I feel unsatisfied until I achieve that dream? My attempts were all futile. I learned that I was too conscious to be accepted as a writer at the same time too scared to write honestly. Reflecting on what I truly wanted, I always felt that fame, fortune and pow...

TV Shows (US and Australia)

Image
Over the years, here are the shows that made me a couch potato/ tv addict which at times I regret because I spent too much time watching tv then I would go over the net for more information. What I included in this list are those shows that I waited for the episode on tv Ph time. There are lots of series that I am dying to complete but wasn't able to like Grey's Anatomy, Glee, Suits, Vampire Diaries and those recommended by my students before. TV shows like Ally McBeal, Felicity and Sex and the City are special in way that even I did not crazily followed each episode , every time I catch it on tv, I gain something worthy to ponder, if not heartwrenching, it is empowering. 1.      Alias              Alias will always have a special place in my heart.        Very empowering ang dating sa akin na I can be whoever I want to be. Sidney's angst, longing for normalcy, her heartaches over betrayal -especially n...
